Very rarely do I get frustrated doing research in order to decipher the information and put all of it in perspective and then offer the reader a clear picture of a transaction or the strengths / weaknesses of a player.
Yesterday was one of those days, when the Florence Y’alls announced that they had signed Hisayoshi Hamazaki, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher that only had a Perfect Game profile (from 2014) to his name on the entire world wide web. Let’s be honest, how many times does that happen in this day and age?
Well, some good got out of it and when I stopped crying that the world was unfair, I went directly to the source and contacted Brian White, the manager, who’s been with the team since 2015. I asked him about the new player on his staff and he was very generous in his explanation:
He is a right-handed starter. Should be upper 80’s. Has a good feel for the game and understands how to pitch. Word was he was one of the best 3 arms in the California Winter League this year. We will be looking for him to compete for the back end of the rotation starting spot.
The team will need him to improve a pitching staff that was in the bottom third of the Frontier League in ERA in 2019, tied for worst HR/9 (0.9) and had by far the worst time when it came to striking batters out (7.4 K/9).
That being said, they still finished tied for best record in the league at 57–39, thanks to an offensive unit that got on base and made contact. You’ve got to love baseball and its ability to show you a new way to win every time!
From the roster information I gathered, the rotation to start the 2021 season is: Zach Spivy, Frank Valentino, Edgar Martinez, Grant Hockin and Hisayoshi Hamazaki (if he wins the fifth spot. The southpaw George Faue could make a good run for that spot, also).
Jared Cheek, Jonhathon Tripp and Karl Craigie will still be there to anchor the bullpen. I ask you to keep an eye on the LHP Grayson Huffman, a former Blue Jays farmhand that will look to impress and go to the next level of his career.

Je ressens très rarement de la frustration en faisant de la recherche pour déchiffrer des informations et toutes les mettre en perspective, pour ensuite offrir au lecteur une image claire d’une transaction ou des forces / faiblesses d’un joueur.
Hier était l’un de ces jours, lorsque les Y’alls de Florence ont annoncé avoir signé Hisayoshi Hamazaki, un lanceur droitier de 26 ans qui n’avait qu’une page web, un profile Perfect Game (à partir de 2014), à son nom sur internet. Soyons honnêtes, combien de fois cela se produit-il à notre époque?
En bout de ligne, du bien en est sorti , car lorsque j’ai arrêté de pleurer que le monde était injuste, je suis allé directement à la source et j’ai contacté Brian White, le gérant des Y’alls, qui fait partie de l’équipe depuis 2015. Je lui ai posé des questions sur le nouveau joueur et il a été très généreux dans ses explications:
C’est un partant droitier. Sa vélocité se tient entre 85 et 89 mph. Il a une bonne idée du jeu et comprend comment lancer et attaquer un frappeur. La rumeur était qu’il était l’un des 3 meilleurs bras de la California Winter League cette année. Nous nous attendons à ce qu’il lutte pour la cinquième place de partant dans la rotation.
L’équipe aura besoin de lui pour améliorer un personnel de lanceurs qui se classait dans le dernier tiers de la Frontier League en MPM en 2019, à égalité pour le pire ratio CC/ 9 (0,9) et a connu de loin la pire fiche lorsqu’il s’agissait de retirer les frappeurs sur des prises (7,4 K / 9).
Cela étant dit, ils ont quand même terminé à égalité pour le meilleur record de la ligue à 57–39, grâce à une unité offensive qui se rendait sur les buts et faisait un contact constant avec la balle tout au long de la saison. Vous vous devez d’admirer le baseball et sa capacité à vous montrer une nouvelle façon de gagner à chaque fois!
D’après les informations disponibles que j’ai recueillies, la rotation pour commencer la saison 2021 est la suivante: Zach Spivy, Frank Valentino, Edgar Martinez, Grant Hockin et Hisayoshi Hamazaki (s’il remporte la cinquième place. Le gaucher George Faue pourrait aussi offrir une lutte intéressante pour cette place).
Jared Cheek, Jonhathon Tripp et Karl Craigie seront toujours là pour ancrer l’enclos. Je vous demande de garder un œil sur le LHP Grayson Huffman, un ancien fermier des Blue Jays qui cherchera à impressionner et à passer au niveau suivant de sa carrière.
